The Ultimate Seed Crackers

Looking for something nutritious to break the bread habit? These seed crackers are the answer!

Naturally gluten free and a great source of fibre, protein & omega-3, they are a great accompaniment to soup or vehicle for humous.

Ingredients

  • 500mls water

  • 200g sunflower seeds

  • 30g pumpkin seeds

  • 150g sesame seeds

  • 55g flax seeds

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp psyllium husk flakes

  1. Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl, then add water and stir well.

  2. Set aside and allow to thicken for around 20 minutes. The mixture will thicken and become a gooey / gel like consistency. This is your cracker ‘dough’.

  3. Transfer the mixture over to a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Spread into a thin layer. You might need to use 2 baking trays. I like mine to be spread super thin so they become extra crispy when cooked, you might prefer them thicker so they are more ‘bendy’

  4. Bake in the oven at 150 °c for 1 hour. You can adjust the baking time depending on how browned / golden crispy you prefer your crackers to be. Keep a close eye on them though, they can burn easily.

  5. To get evenly cut crackers, use a knife or pizza cutter to cut them half way through baking. I prefer the ‘rustic’ look and break them into uneven pieces once cooled.

  6. Remove from the oven and let them cool completely before transferring to a container or eating.

  7. These crackers will store in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks at room temperature.
